Seems I can "Go superfast with BT Infinity fibre broadband" if I want.

Not sure if I do though,

Talk Talk is cheap .....

Plus.net always used to be ok. They have grown a lot though: I'm not. sure that is ever a good thing with an ISP. Infinity OS meant to be good though. Wish we were covered

A tad expensive for Infinity. But then, maybe there are more benefits than being able to download websites quicker .... I would need to put a case forward to the finance director.

I am now tempted to go back to BT. Cannot get infinity here though. The only sticking point seems to be the usage allowance, I guess 40 Gb is enough, so long as I do not backup all sites and download all, each week ...

Also, need to check static IPs.

But what really won me over is the offer to deal with my current supplier. I know Talk Talk will be a complete ass about me leaving.

I;m with BT and their broadband's actually pretty good. swapped from sky because they were driving me insane with blaming issues on "its because its raining" and stuff (this is via hardwired cables).

I do still have some issues but I'm willing to believe thats because our wires are long and our neighbours download a lot at certain times. Their service is 20 times better than Sky's was though.

I hate BT as an I ISP. In terms of ISP balls-ups that we have to then support for hosting customers, BThave 1 st place with talk talk 2nd. Infinity would tempt me. Nothing else I can think of would. Last time they called trying to get me to switch with an extended free trial I had to explain that I wouldn't use them even if they paid me.

I meant it too

Hmmmm.

Talk Talk sound a lot like Sky. Generally I have no problems, but everytime I do have a problem (like no Internet for 3 days) they blame my hardware, my cables, my computer, my telephone filters, my sockets etc. Once I resorted to buying a new router only to find out on the BT website that there had been a fire at the exchange. Tossers.

Most other ISP that I looked at have a bandwidth cap, or it is bloody expensive to use as much as you like. Not sure I can handle that!

The problem with big ISPs is that they employ numpties. As they grow they seem to keep the same number of hard-core geeks, but bolster the numbers with anyone who knows which way around a keyboard goes. End result is that when you inevitably have a problem you are facing a firewall of fuckwittery before you can get anything done.

Bandwidtth caps : Could be worth measuring what you are using. I'm on an "unlimited" package for my mobile broadband. Looking to change soon, so called to ask them what I was using and actually it isn't much at all.  Sure that there is some free metering program around.  Try it for a week and you'll at least be able to make more informed choices.
